It’s been a very busy summer at Rocklily. We have sold out of our first wombat calendar with photos of our wombats and their stories. This has funded a number of things, such as a large amount of Cydectin to treat mange as well as much needed professional bushfire clearing. We had let a lot of trees and scrub regrow since we bought Rocklily in 2002 and we needed to clear 30% of this around our pens and buildings to help us make it all manageable going into the future with Warwick with Parkinsons. We have left some trees and we can now mow the steep slopes of 20 degrees and keep everything safe.
It has become increasingly hard to pick roadside grass for our wombats. It takes about 3 hours to get enough for 3 nights!
We have released two more wombats, Queenie and Pearl, at Nick’s place release pen. We spotted a little joey with Nikki (our April release) which is very exciting. Here we see Queenie and Pearl together coming out of a wild burrow.
