Frankie steels another barrel!
Frankie was rescued at around 400 gms and came to Rocklily at 9kg.
A healthy but quite humanised. He dragged a black blanket around from his box to sleep on, wanted heaps of attention and was very strong willed. Upon his supported soft release things got worse for us, he wanted, demanded attention. Frankie stole washing, and shredded it , same with any other clothing left outside, he followed us around and started stealing barrels, buckets anything he could roll away to play with. this happened day or night, he's not your normal wombat.
Now at 8 years old he likes to chase the girls, and will wait for them near the treatment feed stations. I caught this video by chance, when he was 4 years old as he was getting a smaller barrel out from inside a larger one. This is humorous, and shows wombats are quite clever, their stubbornness gets in the way though.
Its actually quite sad, he's gone through many years looking for human company, even putting Warwick in hospital for a week with an infected bite and Dianna attending a wound clinic for a deep bite . We do love Frankie and he is the major reason I wrote 'raising resilient wombats for wildlife carers when I was a wombat co-ordinator and realy saw the need.
