Pet wombats.. do not work at around 10 - 15kg they are very strong distructive and bite!. Someone 'dumped' a 15ish kg wombat down at wombeyean caves Laundrysome weeks ago, we were called in to 'rescue' on friday where it repeately broke in to hide behind the washing machines!. There is NO water now a the caves camping area for wildlife, even the birds have moved on for summer the roo's and wallabies have water provided by the rangers. Obviously this little wombat could not find or reach it ;-( It is Underweight terrified, covered in a huge tick burden and with a massive healed scar on it's back, it sort out human buildings as it was raised by humans, this was proved later when it ate a 'wombat' food mix in preference to grass. We will be rehabing 'softly' for some time, photo show's softly coming too from being transported in our cool hospital shed. Once we were happy with softly, we put in a tunnel covered in straw so softly feels secure. Softly will be released here where there is water even in the worst drought.
Softly made a full recovery and was seen a few years later very healthy indeed.
We will happily take any wildlife 'pets' no questions asked rather than having them doomed to die a slow death. If a wildlife carer thought they were giving it a safe place to live they did not do the appropriate research!, Again give us a call we will help!
