Raising resiliant wombats to release and Beyond. Video by Dianna Bisset AWRConference 2025
Dianna made this 25 minute video to present at the 2025 Australian Wildlife Rehabilitation Conference in Canberra.
Its a fast paced video covering Humanisation, Health and Release and Beyond.
We do not cover many aspects of actual care for you wombats or indeed apply this to Macropods and possums, and almost wildlife that are in care.
This covers specific things and methods we found helpful in helping people Not humanise so much and end up with wildlife that substantially lives a wild life.
Any hand raised wildlife is likely to come back if it can when it gets in trouble, or times become really tough, accept help and then move back to a wild life.
So you are not seeing them daily or often and they are managing, breading and getting on with being wild.
Your welcome to watch it and Dianna is happy to discuss anything from this with you, do a zoom to a few whatever helps you and others in your wildlife care and outcomes.
There is no paper on this, we do have some Blogs, on construction of pen's and boxes in and are adding to it all currently .
These are what has worked for us, from raising our son, to foster children and then wildlife. Also note that and generally speaking pens need to be far far bigger than standards for that species, the bigger the better and the wilder you can keep them.
Enjoy Regards Dianna and Warwick
