Goodhew’s story 16th september 2025
Goodhew’s story:
Began in a shed in the centre of town. When we found him, he was thin, unwell and struggling with horrendous infected wounds around his neck as well as mange. He was clearly humanised: possibly someone’s pet, no longer wanted and left behind. After weeks of medical treatment in rehab, Goodhew finally healed. From this view, you cannot see the scarring and hair loss still covering much of his back, but he is now using burrows in a wildplaces and is starting to look like the round, healthy wombat he was meant to be. Goodhew is one of the rare exceptions: a wombat who survived apparent dog attack and disease, who has gone on to a truly wild life here at Rocklily. Wildlife deserves skilled care, respect, and the chance to return to where they belong.
