Little Millie’s story: Initally rescued 3.2.2022 trleased 16.4.2023

Little Millie’s story: She was rescued at 12kg when she should have weighed 15–16kg given her size. This little girl came from Cheryl and Michael's place, where she'd made a home for herself in some canvas builder's tarp hanging on a nice, enclosed, north-facing veranda. She was malnourished, with thin hair, covered in ticks, and carrying old wombat-attack scars but was relatively easy to pick up. We treated her for all that and more and she had a restful first night in her hospital box. Initially she only ate hay, buteventually learnt fresh grass was better, and moved into our hospital shed. When she was well enough, Millie moved to the Nursery wombatorium, and was later soft-released from our main wombatorium. She disappeared quickly, but we saw her again a few years later with a lovely big joey in her pouch, checking out a big burrow. Now she's seen only infrequently on camera.
